La Academia Kids, Season 2
At 10 years old, Veracruz’s Nicole Gatti took the world by storm with her 2014 rendition of Janis Joplin’s ‘Piece Of My Heart’. She appeared on La Academia Kids, and no one really knew what to expect from the tiny girl with the wild curly hair and purple party dress; but when she opened her mouth and unleashed a huge, smoky voice more reminiscent of Janis Joplin’s own whiskey soaked voice than is reasonable for someone of only 10 years, the audience and judges were absolutely sold!
Fun Fact: Nicole is now 12, and working on her very first album, entitled Tu y Yo.
Guys, this is one you have to see to believe! It’s hard to watch this and not imagine what it would have been like had Janis lived long enough to have her own children with unruly, curly hair and wild spirits with big voices to match. It’s pretty safe to say that Nicole absolutely nailed this performance, and we can’t wait to see what this little songstress does with that phenomenal voice!
