Klaus Gets Candid…
Since Donald Trump was officially sworn in as President of the United States this past January, there have been hardly any rock stars out there that have kept quiet with their opinions of him. Then again, that’s simply a part of rock history. For as long as we can remember, rock stars being vocal about where they stand politically has often been one of the main contributing factors to some of our favorite songs. That being said, I can’t imagine that what Klaus Meine has to say about President Trump will be a part of any type of song anytime soon.
In a recent interview with Billboard, the Scorpions front man got candid about President Trump’s plans to build a wall on the border of Mexico. Here is what he had to say…
“It’s almost 30 years ago the Berlin Wall came down, and there’s somebody in the White House now talking about putting new walls up. It’s hard to understand. When the Berlin Wall came down, we thought we were all moving closer together and it was more about one world, a united Europe and the United States working together, coming together, building bridges. With music, we always try to build bridges. But now it seems like so much of that is falling apart. I never thought in my lifetime I would see that. It’s like the clock ticking backwards.”
“I think as Germans we owe America so much, so they will always be close to our hearts. No question about it. But it’s hard to see how this president is acting. I just hope this change will come again when we are one world on the same side.”
It’s certainly refreshing to see that Klaus didn’t get vulgar with his comments, but you can’t deny that his words still cut deep.
