Nothing Stops The Billy Joel Train!

Though we have been seeing many rock legends such as Neil Diamond, Elton John, Ozzy Osbourne, and even Slayer among many others all announcing their retirements, we still have many of our idols staying in the game. For example, the great Billy Joel has no intentions of ever retiring, but his reason why is not exactly what you’d expect…

In a recent interview with the Tampa Bay Times, Billy talked about why he intends to play music forever. Here is what he had to say…

“You know what a farewell tour is? A farewell tour is just a way of getting people to buy tickets, because they don’t think they’re going to see you anymore. Then all these farewell tours go on for like five years. The Who have been on a farewell tour for like 30 years. So I think it’s pointless. If I’m going to stop, I’m just going to stop. But I don’t see that happening.”

“It felt like, ‘Okay, I’m getting older, I’m getting tired, I shouldn’t be doing this anymore. I look at myself in the mirror and I go, ‘You do not look like a rock star at all.’ And I think maybe I should just call it quits. But then I realized, this is what I do and it’s probably keeping me alive.”

At least we can all rejoice in knowing that we’ll still be able to see Billy Joel perform live for many more years!
