Talk About Rubbing Salt In The Wound…
As you’ve probably already guessed a million times over, some of your favorite classic rock bands have some pretty darn wild stories and truths about their greatest songs. After all, in most cases, it’s what makes those songs great. Of course we could go on forever about these numerous examples, but we just learned about one in particular that is truly shocking. Enter Guns N’ Roses.
Guns N’ Roses probably have an entire rolodex full of crazy stories that they can just whip out at the drop of a hat, but perhaps their craziest one is the one about their smash-hit “Rocket Queen”.
Back in 1987, during the recording of Appetite For Destruction, drummer Steven Adler apparently cheated on his girlfriend at the time Adriana Smith. So, as an act of revenge, Smith decided to have sex with front man Axl Rose, and just to rub salt in the wound, they recorded themselves having sex and used that audio in the aforementioned song “Rocket Queen”. If you go back and listen to the song, you can hear this all going down around the 2:30 mark. Needless to say, after hearing this story, I can never look at the band the same way ever again…
