Mick Finally Gets Candid…

Four Months have passed since Lindsey Buckingham departed Fleetwood Mac to the shock of fans all over the world. The news came out of nowhere and was honestly the last thing we’d ever expect to happen. Nevertheless, it happened and neither Lindsey nor the band broke their silence right away. The band made a joint statement officially addressing Lindsey’s exit whilst welcoming his replacement Mike Campbell, formerly a guitarist for Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

Now, four months later, drummer Mick Fleetwood has finally given his take on the sudden departure. During a recent interview with Billboard, Mick kept his words soft, but even they say enough. Here is what he had to say…

“We’re very excited. Obviously this is a huge change with the advent of Lindsey Buckingham not being a part of Fleetwood Mac. We all wish him well and all the rest of it. In truthful language, we just weren’t happy. And I’ll leave it at that in terms of the dynamic. And he’s going out on the road more or less the same time, I think — not in the same places, I hope!”

Shortly after his departure, Lindsey accused his former band mates of having “lost perspective”. However, it seems now that both parties are not engaging in any sort of war of words anymore. As Fleetwood Mac approach their 50th anniversary, I think it goes without saying that we all wish Lindsey was still in the band, but the future, oddly enough, does still look bright, so keep those fingers crossed!
