Axl Just Can’t Escape It!

It was just a few short weeks ago that we heard the news that AC/DC would in fact continue with Axl Rose as their singer. The band is heading back into the studio to record a new full-length album and a tour will follow.

As you could imagine, this news was met with mixed reactions. Though some fans are optimistic about this new direction, there are many, many others that are clearly not. And it’s not just fans that are worried; it’s also fellow rockers, such as Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen.

In a recent interview with 96.9 The Eagle; Phil kept his words soft, but truthful when discussing Axl Rose being a member of AC/DC. Here is some of what he had to say…

“I’m a huge AC/DC fan, and if the whole band’s left or gone… Malcolm Young dead, obviously. Brian Johnson got kicked out. Cliff Williams retired and Phil Rudd got arrested. You’ve got one person – so it’s not really AC/DC. Maybe call it ‘A, with Axl Rose.’ It kind of loses its appeal. It becomes karaoke. It becomes something else and it’s lost its integrity, really.”

Clearly, Phil does not want to come off as disrespectful, but what he’s saying is the truth; a truth that neither Axl Rose, Angus Young, or any member of AC/DC, for that matter, are going to want to hear…
